The Portuguese media now reveals some attempts from local clubs to sign Luizão from West Ham United during the January window.
According to O Jogo, both Estrela da Amadora and Portimonense tried to land the 22-year-old in the winter market.
It’s said the main reason both attempts failed is that they couldn’t reach an agreement with West Ham regarding Luizão’s salary.
O Jogo adds that besides Portuguese clubs, some Brazilian sides also tried the signing, and had the same problem when negotiating with the Hammers.
Luizão was signed by West Ham in January 2023, when they got him as a free agent from São Paulo. However, the Hammers kept him in the U-21 squad, and never gave him a chance to be part of the first team. Since a full debut doesn’t seem to be on the horizon, his departure from the club is a real possibility.
The Brazilian media had already shared that several clubs were interested in his transfer, but it seems there’s still something keeping him at the London side. Perhaps the summer window will open other possibilities for him.
