West Ham United are ‘in talks’ with VfB Stuttgart and their player Konstantinos Mavropanos, following the collapse of Harry Maguire’s moved from Manchester United.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the player could be about to be granted his wish of a move to the Premier League.
The newspaper explains that Mavropanos has made no secret of the fact that he wants to play in the Premier League again after a short and unsuccessful spell at Arsenal earlier in his career.
He sees his time in England as uncompleted and would like to return to take the next step in his career, as well as the inherent financial possibilities for him.
West Ham are now ready to offer him the opportunity, with Kicker reporting that they are ‘opening’ the door for him to make his return to the Premier League.
The Hammers have ‘contacted both the player and VfB’ about a possible transfer, turning their attention to the Greek center-back after a deal to sign Maguire from Manchester United fell by the wayside.
A transfer fee of around €18m is currently being discussed but talks are in no way completed or ready to be signed off at this moment in time.
They are taking place, though, with West Ham seemingly moving quickly to try and wrap up a deal for their alternative to Maguire.
