Nayef Aguerd has been linked with a string of clubs this week, with it repeatedly claimed the West Ham United defender has been turning down offers because a move to La Liga is what he really desires.

When it comes to Spanish clubs, it’s Villarreal and Real Sociedad who have been the most linked. Indeed both have been repeatedly credited with interest in the Hammers player this week.

Diario Vasco, a Basque newspaper and excellent source on La Real, report on negotiations between the two clubs. They say that talks are ongoing even at this late stage.

The move would be a loan without a purchase option. Diario Vasco say Real Sociedad don’t want one, because they’re not looking long term with Aguerd. They have 23-year-old Jon Pacheco and 18-year-old Jon Martin and have no desire to slow their development down.

That doesn’t make it look like a great scenario for either West Ham or Aguerd, with Real Sociedad seemingly just wanting a body in whilst their youngsters get some experience.
