El Hadji Malick Diouf has travelled to England to carry out medical tests with West Ham United, after they reached an agreement with Slavia Prague at the weekend.
On Sunday, the Czech Republican side sealed a 4-2 friendly win over Dynamo Dresden and the 20-year-old came off late in the game.
The player said goodbye to the club’s home supporters at Eden Area, ahead of his move to West Ham.
Monday’s edition of MF Dnes covers the reaction from the Slavia Prague officials and fans to El Hadji Malick Diouf’s final appearance for the club.
The newspaper says the defender wasn’t initially planned to feature but came on for the last two minutes in a friendly against Dynamo Dresden.
He got a standing ovation from the fans, who thanked him for his contribution to the club, and Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpišovský was pleased with the response.
“That’s exactly how it should have turned out. The boy is extraordinary and will be even better. His potential is brutal,” he said.
El Hadji Malick Diouf’ is described as an ‘extremely high quality player’ by the Czech newspaper, and losing him to West Ham is disappointing for Slavia from a sporting point of view. On the other hand, he’ll be the record sale from the Czech league as it should help them earn €22m.
Slavia’s manager has mixed emotions that the Senegal international is on his way to West Ham.
“I don’t actually know if I’ll miss Malick more as a footballer or as a person. But of course, we have to be happy for him,” Trpišovský explained.
El Hadji Malick Diouf is leaving with best wishes from Slavia Prague and their supporters.
