According to Turkish website Fotospor, West Ham United will send a scout to Turkey this weekend to watch Galatasaray defender Christian Luyindama, when his side face Fenerbahce in the Istanbul derby.
The DR Congo international was linked with a move to Aston Villa over the course of the summer transfer window and Fotospor now believe he’s a transfer target for West Ham.
The Hammers have made a good start to the season and Manuel Pellegrini could look to strengthen his defensive line in January by signing the player.
The Turkish club initially loaned Luyindama last January for €3.5m and they paid an additional €5m to sign him from Standard Liege this summer on a permanent deal. Since his move to Galatasaray, the 25 year-old has quickly established himself as a key player in Fatih Terim’s backline.
Despite the West Ham interest, it’s reported Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim wants to keep his player at least for this season.
Luyindama has made 7 appearances for Gala in all competitions this season and is under contract at the Turk Telekom Arena until June 2022.
