Earlier this week, reports from Portugal revealed that a couple of local clubs failed to sign Luizão from West Ham United.
It was said that Estrela da Amadora and Portimonense both tried to get the defender on loan, but couldn’t match the Hammers’ requests.
Now as Brazilian outlet Esporte News Mundo shares a new story on Luizão, it’s said that some clubs are also trying, and failing, to take him back to his home country.
The story claims that Atlético Mineiro recently made an approach for the transfer. It’s also said that, according to his staff, other Brazilian sides, such as Cruzeiro, made contacts with West Ham as well.
However, the Hammers are against Luizão’s return to Brazil. They believe that’d be a step back for him, so they’d only accept a permanent transfer.
West Ham’s request for a sale can’t be covered by any of the Brazilian sides who got in touch, so the transfer is ruled out right now.
Luizão was signed by West Ham in January 2023, when they got him as a free agent from São Paulo. However, the Hammers kept him in the U-21 squad, and never gave him a chance to be part of the first team.
