West Ham United and Nottingham Forest remain interested in St. Louis City sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel, although the Hammers have already seen an approach for him rejected.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the Premier League due are ‘interested’ in hiring the 50-year-old and tempting him away from the USA.
That’s something has been mooted in the last few weeks, with a report at the end of last month making it clear both West Ham and Nottingham Forest had enquired about him.
Indeed, the Hammers are believed to have ‘made representations’ to St. Louis owners the Taylor family about potentially taking Pfannenstiel to England. However, they were met with a ‘friendly but firm rejection’.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, don’t appear to have gone as far as David Moyes’s side but are also keeping an eye on the fine work he is doing in MLS.
That’s because Pfannenstiel has practically built the St. Louis team in the last two years, creating a football structure out of nothing and building a team that is currently top of the table in the Western Conference alongside Seattle Sounders.
That’s earned him plenty of attention and the fact he is also only tied down on a deal until next year, albeit with an option to extend it by another year, has the sharks in the water.
West Ham and Nottingham Forest are among them, but the Hammers have already been rejected and it remains to be seen if the Tricky Trees get the same treatment.
