Try to bring in some money in January, AS Roma have identified full-back as the area where they can make the nicest profit without hindering their squad too much.

The Brazilians Emerson Palmieri (attracting interest from Liverpool and Chelsea) and Bruno Peres are the two likeliest to leave, and the latter of the two could also end up in the Premier League.

According to Il Tempo, a local Rome based newspaper, both Newcastle and West Ham have enquired about the 27-year-old recently, but are yet to make a concrete approach for his services.

Last we heard from the Italian media, the Serie A side were asking for around €9m, a fee Premier League sides like the Magpies or the Hammers shouldn’t have too much trouble finding down the back of the sofa.

With Pablo Zabaleta doing all of the work on the right of the defence this season, and Sam Byram hardly getting a look in, it could be that David Moyes feels the Brazilian is better equipped to provide competition for the Argentinian.

As for Newcastle, their strength in depth at right-back isn’t exactly awful, and it could be that Rafa Benitez has plans to use Peres a bit further forward, where he has been known to feature over the years in a three at the back formation.

Either that, or he’ll chuck him in at left-back.

But, as Il Tempo said, we might be getting ahead of ourselves here.

Nothing concrete, yet.
