Last summer, West Ham United completed the signing of Andy Irving from SK Austria Klagenfurt and immediately loaned him back to the Austrian club.
Operating mainly in the middle of the pitch, he’s scored four goals and registered four assists from 16 games this season.
The midfielder’s deal at West Ham lasts until 2026 and it’s ‘not yet clear’ if he’ll return to the London club in the summer. That’s at least what LAOLA1 are reporting.
Austria Klagenfurt Günther Gorenzel managing director has stated a decision has to be made with David Moyes’ side “at the appropriate time” over the 23-year-old.
The Austrian outlet have also had a chat with the West Ham owned player and the majority of the interview was about his spell at Hearts. Towards the end, the Scotland international talked about his ‘dream’ of playing in the Premier League.
After leaving Hearts, Irving moved to lower division German side, Türkgücü München. They went into administration, allowing Austria Klagenfurt to sign him on a free transfer in 2022.
His performances in his debut season for Austria Klagenfurt convinced West Ham to buy the player, but the report says he’s not yet ready for the Premier League.
“It’s the best league [Premier League] in the world. I followed it when I was six or seven years old. There’s still a lot to work on and improve on me. Maybe then I can fulfil my dream,” he said.
