Four days ago, we covered claims from France which stated AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United have concrete interest in Marseille’s Elye Wahi.

The Hammers have been the ‘first to take action’ to try and sign the striker in the ‘last few hours’.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who state West Ham have contacted the Ligue 1 side over a move for the 22-year-old.

Graham Potter’s options in attack are limited as Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug are currently sidelined with injuries.

Last week, Füllkrug picked up a hamstring injury against Aston Villa and will be out for several weeks. The German’s setback has seen the London club act and make contact for Wahi.

West Ham have approached Marseille and would ‘like to advance’ for a loan deal with an ‘almost obligatory purchase option’ of €25m. This indicates the conditions needed to make the deal permanent would be easy to achieve.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side paid €25m plus €5m bonuses to buy the Frenchman from RC Lens last summer. The club recently decided not to part ways with Wahi, but the report claims West Ham have ‘redefined the landscape’ around his future.

Marseille aren’t in a rush, but L’Equipe insinuate they could sell Wahi if he wants to move to the Premier League and if there’s a market for him.
