West Ham United have ‘maintained contact’ with the entourage of Stade Rennais defender Adrien Truffert ahead of a possible move this summer.

That’s according to Le Parisien, who say the left-back ‘arouses the greed’ of several teams abroad in this window.

They explain that Rennes rejected an offer worth €18m from Aston Villa in the January transfer window and while that potential move has not been reactivated, the prospect of a transfer away from the French club has not gone away.

Other clubs in the Premier League have ‘maintained contact’ with the player’s entourage over a move and West Ham are one of them.

They have been interested in the youngster ‘for a while’ but haven’t made an offer for the player as yet. There is a belief that could change now the Hammers have the Declan Rice money in their back pocket.

Should they make a firm move, though, they will find Rennes resistant to a deal. They intend to keep the defender this summer and would ‘do everything to keep him’.

Discussions for a new contract have already began with an initial offer to the player and his agents.

Truffert is thinking about that proposal but wants to give himself time to study the different possibilities on the table this summer.

Whether there is one from West Ham remains to be seen but they’re certainly in touch with the player and his agents after showing interest for a while.
