West Ham United have made an official offer to midfielder Guido Rodriguez as he weighs up his options this summer as a free agent.
That’s according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who reports that West Ham, Real Betis and Fenerbahçe have all made official contact with the midfielder in the last 48 hours.
Rodrigez is currently a free agent after leaving Betis and is yet to sign a new deal with the Spanish side or join anyone else.
He had been linked with a move to Barcelona and several reports have insisted that deal was practically done but there has been no movement on that front, even though the Catalan side need a defensive midfielder.
That’s left him looking at his options and Sabuncuoğlu reports that West Ham, Betis and Fenerbahçe have all made him offers this week.
He then adds that Rodriguez’s representative is the one who recommended the player to the Turkish side, asking for a €4m signing fee and a three-year deal worth €3m net a season. Fenerbahçe want a discount on that if the matter is to move forward.
He concludes by adding that the same agent is in talks with two other teams and holding negotiations, one of which is presumably West Ham.
Cadena SER, meanwhile, report that Rodriguez remains in Seville and has not lost contact with Betis. The Spanish side would be willing to sign him again but only if one of their current midfield options were to leave.
The window of opportunity may be there for West Ham then, who can take advantage of that hesitancy from Betis and Fenerbahçe’s unwillingness to match his initial demands.
