West Ham United have reportedly joined the race for the Brazilian starlet Gabriel Barbosa, also known as Gabigol.
According to Tuttosport, both the Hammers and Leicester City, who had already been linked to him, are the English sides who are making competition with the Italian clubs to sign the attacker.
The newspaper doesn’t say if the Premier League sides held any talks to sign the 19-year-old, but mentions them as teams who could spoil Inter’s deal, since the Italian club don’t want to enter an auction for the player.
Inter have reportedly made a €25m offer for Gabigol and are in advanced talks to sign him. Since this is more than the player’s €18m release clause, Santos don’t have a word in the deal, meaning all these extra millions are going to the player and those associated with him.
That’s what put Inter in front of Juve in the race for Gabigol, since the Old Lady had offered €20m, according to reports from Brazil. So maybe if the English sides bid a few million more, they could end up convincing him too.
But Juventus haven’t given up yet, and should be pushing harder soon.
Chelsea are also in there, and in July we were made aware the club had submitted an offer, but they weren’t interested in an auction situation either.
