West Ham United are interested in SC Braga star Simon Banza, according to claims this week.
The news doesn’t come from Portugal, but actually from Italy, where Calcio Mercato feature a story saying he was offered to AS Roma.
While the outlet explains how he ended up on the Giallorossi’s table, it’s said the likes of West Ham and Fiorentina also have the striker in their sights.
Banza is the second top scorer in the Portuguese League, with 21 goals, and has a total of 23 goals and five assists in 40 appearances for Braga this season.
The great news is that the player is only protected by a €25m release clause, which sounds like a very reasonable price these days.
The striker is now 27, and Calcio Mercato claim he’s looking for a great opportunity to make a big move and sign a big contract.
We must just point out that when Banza was announced by Braga back in 2022, the Portuguese media actually claimed that the player would have a €40m release clause.
That’s something that West Ham will surely have to check before going for his signing. Especially because, for now, the local press doesn’t seem to have any information about this race for the player.
