West Ham United have reportedly joined the race for FC Metz striker Georges Mikautadze.
Le10Sport today feature a story claiming that after all the interest the 22-year-old has been drawing this summer, there’s now a new club added to the list.
It’s claimed that West Ham have ‘just officially positioned themselves’. Even though they haven’t made a verbal or official offer yet, it’s said they’ve moved into the battle.
Among the clubs who are competing for the signing, there’s Sheffield United and Lazio, who already placed their offers, as well as Lyon and Marseille, who are still to make their moves.
The highest bid so far seems to have come from the Blades, who put €18m on the table. That was turned down by Metz, who demand at least €20m for the sale.
By arriving in the race now, West Ham should have an idea of what is going on and have the chance of offering the money requested by the French club.
We shall soon see how strong their interest is.
