West Ham United are a ‘hot candidate’ to sign Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker this summer as he looks for a move to the Premier League.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say that it may take a fee of ‘up to €20m’ to secure the forward’s signature following another impressive campaign in Germany.
The newspaper explains that it is set to be a summer of overhaul at Union after they qualified for the Champions League, a success which will see players leaving and strengthening of the squad required.
How much can be spent on new additions will depend on how much arrives via sales and the big departure will be Becker.
He ‘plans to go to the Premier League’ and has even changed advisors, joining Volker Struth’s Sports360 in recent weeks, in an attempt to make it happen.
The current ‘hot candidate’ for his signature is West Ham, who could look to be bolstering their own squad depending on how the Europa Conference League final pans out.
A win in that would secure Europa League football for next season and provide extra funds for David Moyes, or even a new West Ham manager, to strengthen. There will also be a need to replace Gianluca Scamacca, who could easily return to Italy after a disappointing year at the London Stadium.
Becker could be the man to do so after 11 goals and seven assists in the Bundesliga this season but would cost ‘up to €20m’ if the Hammers do make a serious move.
