It seems Sporting CP won’t be much of a problem to West Ham for the signing of the Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.
Over the past few weeks, the Portuguese press has been writing about the Lions’ will to sign the player back, as they would depend on a loan deal since they can’t afford a permanent transfer.
But there isn’t much positivity from newspaper Correio da Manhã today, who claims that things just got a lot harder with West Ham’s interest in the 29-year-old.
They say Sporting CP believed they could sign Slimani with Leicester still paying for a part of his wages, but as West Ham wouldn’t need that help, a move to London sounds more likely.
Slimani signed for Leicester City on a €30m deal in 2016, and scored 13 goals in one and a half season for the club. He’s been on loan at Newcastle United since January, but couldn’t find the net in any of his four games for the Magpies.
