West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign Flamengo defender Fabricio Bruno, according to the Brazilian media.
Globo Esporte reports that the player’s sale to the Hammers is ‘on track’ and should be concluded in the coming weeks.
The report claims that West Ham are expected to pay €15m for the signing, and that’s all the details they have for now.
Fabricio Bruno is 28-years-of-age, which is quite an advanced age for players to leave South America for Premier League clubs.
The centre-back has been at his peak, though. He was recently called up by Brazil for his national team debut, and was a starter in friendlies against England and Spain in March.
The defender was left out of the Copa America squad, but perhaps that game at Wembley was enough to convince West Ham that he’s ready to play in the Premier League.
Fabricio Bruno has been proving to be a solid defender, with good speed which allows him to make tackles in more advanced areas of the pitch, as well as on the wings.
It remains to be seen what West Ham’s style will be next season, but that could help them with a more dynamic defence under Julen Lopetegui.
