England won’t forget Adrien Silva so soon. After the failed move to Leicester City, it’s now West Bromwich who are set to try the signing, according to reports from the Portuguese press.
A Bola claims that the Baggies now have some ‘Chinese money’ and should be able to afford the midfielder, who wouldn’t leave for much less than his €45m release clause.
The newspaper claims that West Brom have two targets for now: Adrien Silva from Sporting and Anthony Modeste from 1. FC Köln.
When they say the Portuguese midfielder’s release clause must be paid, they really mean it. During the summer, when the Foxes were very close to the amount, Silva gave an interview confirming he was heading to England.
But the offer stayed five million short, so Sporting released an official statement saying there was no deal and the player wouldn’t be going anywhere.
Leicester are still said to be interesed, especially after Claudio Ranieri confirmed it last month. And it’s not a complicated race. The club who pay his release clause first will sign him, and if no one reaches the €45m, Adrien will stay at Sporting, where he is the club captain and a fans’ favourite.
