Everton have endured a difficult season as they are currently 19th in the table and need to bring in reinforcements to improve their situation.
The Toffees are looking to strengthen their attack and claims in Italy have stated Marko Arnautović is their main striker target.
On Thursday, Bologna manager Thiago Motta told reporters to ask the 33-year-old himself about his future, when quizzed about Everton links.
Claims in the English press have said the Merseyside club have made an offer for the Austria international.
According to Il Resto del Carlino, a newspaper local to Bologna, the Serie A side have not received any offers for the ex-West Ham United man. The denial has also come from the player’s brother and agent, Danijel. The representative, however, admitted he is not surprised by the recent claims.
“I don’t know any requests from Everton at the moment, we haven’t received anything. We’ll see if it happens in the next few days, but it’s normal for a player of Marko’s calibre to have interest,” the agent said.
Marko has made only one appearance after the World Cup and has been sidelined with injury. His immediate focus is to regain full fitness and return to the pitch.
“What I can say about his situation is that the only thing that matters now is that he recovers as soon as possible and in the best way to be able to lend a hand to the team and his team-mates and get back to scoring. This is what counts. There will be time for everything else,” Danijel explained.
There’s no clarity on the player’s return and he is expected to have more tests on Tuesday, which is the day the window closes. Il Resto del Carlin state Motta and Bologna are waiting for Marko, and perhaps even Everton are also waiting for him.
