Johannes Hoff Thorup has insisted he wasn’t given enough time at Norwich City, following his sacking earlier this month.
Tipsbladet have an interview with the manager today in which he discusses his time at Carrow Road with Norwich and where he thinks it went wrong.
Hoff Thorup was sacked by Norwich on April 22nd, bringing an end to a 47-game spell in charge that lasted less than a year.
He moved to Norwich in July last year, but they have disappointed in the Championship this season, with them currently 14th in the table on 54 points and 22 points outside the top six.
His side averaged just 1.19 points per game this season, finding themselves closer to the relegation battle than a potential return to the Premier League.
It brought an end to his time at the club, with the 36-year-old’s time in charge brought to a swift end despite him signing a three-year contract in the summer.
That is naturally disappointing for both parties, but Hoff Thorup has also been left with a sense of frustration, believing that he needed more time to make it work.
“We got the message the day after our last game against Millwall,” he said on his sacking.
“Quite calmly, where we took it face to face, and they said why they had come up with that decision. There’s not a big discussion club when sitting in such a situation. It’s just about getting it over with so you can move on.
“I could see that it was pointing in a direction, but that’s why it was still a little surprise, because that’s not quite what we had bought into to start with.
“I’ll always say we didn’t have enough time. We have obviously worked with a long-term perspective, and we also knew that the first season would be with bumps in the road.
“Therefore, we also made some decisions on the basis that it was with a longer-term look in mind.”
