Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of CA Talleres’ Ramón Sosa has been nothing short of a saga.

Last week, the Argentine club ended negotiations because the Reds allegedly changed the terms after verbal agreeing a deal. Despite this, the 24-year-old has continued pushing for a move to Nottingham Forest and has refused to train with his club.

On Tuesday, Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo reported Talleres are ready to accept Nottingham Forest’s latest offer of €12m plus €3.5m bonuses.

According to Telefe Córdoba, there are ‘high chances’ for the winger to end up at the Premier League side this summer.

The outlet has also relayed comments from Talleres president Andrés Fassi, who spoke to reporters yesterday. He has again opened the door for Nottingham Forest to sign the Paraguay international.

“We reached an agreement in principle, verbally, via Zoom, we reached the final stretch where the verbal agreements are transcribed into contracts. At the time we had a return [written offer] with which we didn’t agree with respect to what was agreed upon,” he said.

“If the deal goes through, it will be the 41st for the club since we have been here. Today we are in an instance of waiting for the structure of contracts to coincide with what has been agreed. We are optimistic that Nottingham will generate the contract for what Talleres are asking for.”

This would indicate Talleres have received assurance from Nottingham Forest that they will transfer the verbally agreed deal to paper. If that happens, the English club can get the transfer over the line.

When asked about Sosa’s refusal to train, Fassi explained: “It hurts me a lot because we were enthusiastic about making the best squad possible and he was an important element. I’m not disappointed because it has already been discussed. It is logical that the best player in Argentinian football is wanted in the Premier League.”

Sosa has scored seven goals and registered six assists from 21 matches for Talleres this year.
