Mjällby AIF have confirmed Hull City‘s interest in Elliot Stroud and are awaiting the English club’s decision.
On July 11th, Sport Witness covered claims from Sweden of Genoa cooling their interest, giving Hull City an easy route.
The left-back dreams of moving to the Premier League and can fulfil that by joining Hull City.
Still playing despite Hull City interest
On Tuesday, the Swede started as a left winger in his side’s 3-0 win over Lincoln Red Imps FC in a Champions League qualifier.
After the match, Mjällby AIF sporting director Hasse Larsson confirmed there’s no change in his situation and Expressen have relayed his comments.
“It’s pretty much unchanged, actually. He’s our player for a while yet,” he said.
The official has also talked about the discussion with Hull City for the 24-year-old.
“Yes, what can I say. The ball is actually in their court. We’ve said what we think and want, then we’ll see. It’s up to them to get back to us,” Larsson explained.
When asked whether the Allsvenskan winners want more money for Elliot Stroud, the director explained that isn’t the case.
“No, it’s other things, really. We agree on most things. It’s just a small detail, but it’s still up to them. No, I can say that straight away,” he added.
Larsson refused to confirm what that ‘small detail’ is. There’s a reasonable chance it relates to a sell-on percentage.
Player favours Hull City
Genoa have shown interest in Elliot Stroud and are still keen. However, Hasse Larsson insists the Swede wants to join Sergej Jakirović’s side.
“Genoa still really want him, but I don’t think Elliot wants to go there right now anyway, so it’s probably them [Hull City],” Larsson said.
The director’s admission shows all parties want to summer transfer, and Mjällby AIF and the player are waiting for the newly promoted Premier League side to close the operation.
