Jaime Alvarado is not a name which will be so well known among Watford fans, although we know a lot of Hornets followers keep an eye on their young prospects on loan.

The 19 year old moved to Watford in 2017 and is on his second loan away from the Premier League club. First it was Real Valladolid, and now he’s at Hercules.

There’s only been seven appearances so far this season for the Segunda club, but there’s a very good reason for that.

Spanish newspaper AS report he’s been away with the Colombia national set-up for ‘almost 2 months’. Taking part in the South American U20 tournament, Alvarado had a reasonably good time, but there’s a another positive slant.

Hercules have told the media their player has returned in better shape than he went. He’s got more ‘minutes in his legs’ and is in a better physical condition, clearly growing into his football stature.

The club’s sport director Javier Portillo believes the Watford man ‘will surely help’ for the rest of the season.

One to keep an eye on.
