Watford target Ricardo Velho has been rewarded for his good form at Farense.
As reported by newspaper Record, the 25-year-old was selected by coaches and captains as the best goalkeeper in the Portuguese league this season.
The outlet highlights his ‘brilliant’ performances, recalling that he was picked as player of the month three times in one year.
Record couldn’t leave aside that Velho is wanted by some clubs from abroad, with Watford and Sevilla ‘at the head’ of the battle for him.
It’s said the goalkeeper can indeed leave Farense this summer in case someone makes an offer that gets close to his release clause, which stands at €10m.
Watford have been linked to Velho since April, when it was first claimed they were leading the way for the signing. And despite reports saying they are ‘pressing’ to get him by intensifying contacts, it seems they’re still to place their bid for the transfer.
Since his good season is being very much acknowledged, the Hornets probably better be aware of a potential bigger competition showing up.
