Francisco Sierralta ‘is leaving’ Watford to join AJ Auxerre in the summer window.
That’s according to La Tercera from Chile, and they cover the Ligue 1 club’s interest in the 28-year-old.
They report that the French club will pay $3.4m [€3m] to Watford to secure the centre-back’s services.
La Tercera make it clear this information is gathered by El Deportivo, which is their sports section. It’s claimed the Watford player will sign a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 club.
The Chile international has played just over 2,000 minutes from 35 games for the Hornets this season and that includes 21 starts in the Championship.
His entourage suggests a move to Auxerre will provide Sierralta with an opportunity to feature more regularly next season. They feel that may have not been possible at Vicarage Road since, squads in England are larger due to a greater number of games.
Auxerre finished 11th in Ligue 1 table and Sierralta can play in the top division with them next season. Watford, on the other hand, will continue in the Championship.
The Chilean joined the English club in September 2020 and played 123 games for them.
