While Luis Suárez continues to prove his worth to Barcelona, his namesake has been doing the same for Real Zaragoza in the Segunda División.
Watford’s Luis Suárez has no relation to the superstar Barça striker, but he shares his hunger for goals, and that’s earning him plenty of attention in Spain.
The forward signed on loan for Zaragoza during the summer transfer window and has made a flying start to life with the Spanish club, scoring six goals in his first seven games for the club.
That’s enough to make him the top goalscorer in the division and put Zaragoza third in the league, two points outside of the automatic promotion places.
They’ll naturally be looking into the possibility of keeping Suárez long-term should he continue in this rich vein of form and El Desmarque cover that today.
They say the striker’s release clause, which according to him is in the region of €1m, is a ‘perfectly accessible’ figure for any club given the level of performances Suárez has put in.
However, it’s sadly out of Zaragoza’s price range, with the newspaper explaining they would view that asking price as an ‘excessive figure’.
El Desmarque, though, believe that while that’s the case, Zaragoza should make it happen anyway as it could also prove to be a ‘bargain’ for a ‘quality’ player who offers so much.
Indeed the suggestion is that, should Suárez continue to perform as he has done, that Zaragoza trying to lure him away from Watford ‘could well become a real possibility’ in the coming months.
That will, of course, depend on the player’s performances but at this point, it appears Watford may be facing a fight to keep hold of him next summer.
