Watford were on the list of clubs who had representatives watching Porto’s Champions League match against Besiktas last night.

The report is made by Record, and this is the first time the Hornets have made a visit to the Estádio do Dragão this season. At least officially.

Record claims that 43 clubs were represented ainthe stands, but they don’t put out the full list. From the Premier League, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Arsenal were also present.

Porto were on the end of a disappointing home result. Besiktas opened the score, and even though the Dragons managed to equalise with an own goal from Tosic, the Turkish side ended up getting a comfortable 3-1 win.

Who impressed?

The local press took two positive notes from the home said: midfielder Yacine Brahimi and Óliver Torres were praised for creation, and O Jogo doesn’t really understandwhy the latter was subbed off at half time.

For Besiktas, all the offensive sector did well, and proof of that is that three different attacking players scored and were highlighted: Anderson Talisca, Cenk Tosun and the former Liverpool player Ryan Babel.

Last month, Portuguese newspaper Diário de Notícias claimed that the Porto midfielder Hector Herrera had an offer to join Marco Silva at Watford.

But the rumour didn’t get any bigger than that, and if Watford went to watch the player, they couldn’t, because Herrera didn’t get off the bench.

The 27 year old’s contract ends in June 2019, so summer 2018 is a good time to sell. Herrera has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League, and Watford links to the Mexican make some sense.

A January sale could also be possible, with Portuguese clubs often looking for ways to raise cash in the winter.

Given that Herrera is in and out of the team, Watford are going to have a hard time watching him.
