Marseille have moved closer to an agreement with Watford to sign Ismaël Koné, with the player a priority for manager Roberto De Zerbi.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who provide details on the potential operation between Watford and Marseille today.
They report that the French side are set to pay around €12m for Koné after moving closer to an agreement with Watford for the 22-year-old midfielder.
Koné has been made a priority signing by incoming manager De Zerbi, who is yet to be formally announced as Marseille’s new manager but is having his say on their impending transfer business.
The Canadian is currently at the Copa America with his country but this will not stop him finalising his move to France, where he is expected to sign a five-year deal.
The two sides have agreed a deal around €12m, although bonuses will be added to that to make it higher if they are achieved.
Marseille have targeted the Watford midfielder as a replacement for Pape Gueye, while they are also anticipating potential exits for Jordan Veretout and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
