Watford are in the picture to sign UD Las Palmas’ Iván Cédric in the summer window, according to Africa Foot.

The La Liga club sent the 23-year-old on loan to Barcelona Atlètic this season, in the third division in Spain. He’s scored eight goals and registered five assists from 28 games for a side that’s been relegated to the fourth division.

Despite Barcelona Atlètic’s relegation, the striker has managed to attract interest from Watford and CD Leganés.

The report states Barcelona Atlètic have a €3m purchase option and it won’t be exercised following their relegation. Therefore, the player has returned to Las Palmas, who have been relegated from the top flight.

Therefore, the Cameroon U23 international’s future at Las Palmas remains uncertain even if his contract lasts until 2026.

Watford have appointed Paulo Pezzolano as their new manager, and he knows Cédric from his time at Real Valladolid. Cédric scored two goals from 14 games under the Uruguayan coach’s orders.

Pezzolano would like to reunite with his former player at Vicarage Road. Africa Foot state the Championship club have made initial contact with his entourage in order to try and please their manager.

The Pezzolano factor could help Watford beat Leganés or another club for his signature.

If there’s a sale, Las Palmas are unlikely to collect €3m [Barca Atlètic ‘s purchase option] and have to lower the price considering Cédric’s contract is until 2026.
