Watford have a desire to sign Yasser Larouci on a permanent transfer, according to Africa Foot.

Last season, ES Troyes AC let the left-back go out on loan at Sheffield United, who didn’t exercise the purchase option. He returned to England when the Hornets signed him on another loan deal last summer.

His performances have convinced the English club to retain him beyond this season. The 24-year-old would also like to extend his stay at Vicarage Road.

The report states Watford are ‘in discussions’ with the player’s agent, Tim Pole, in order to make his stay permanent.

Larouci made 35 appearances in all competitions this season and it includes 24 starts for the Hornets. The English club have an option to make the loan stay permanent if certain conditions are met.

Sources have told Africa Foot that includes number of appearances which Larouci would have already fulfilled. Therefore, the Championship club have started negotiations with the ‘stake holders’.

Tom Cleverley’s side will have likely contacted the Ligue 2 club to try and lower the price for the Algeria international. That may be the reason Watford are negotiating instead of exercising the buying option.
