Watford’s unlikely hero against Manchester United, Camilo Zuñiga is hoping for more time after impressing every time he’s been called upon by Walter Mazzarri.
Scoring a goal and picking up an assist in eight minutes against José Mourinho’s side, the Colombian wide man has featured in every game since for the Premier League club, whether it be starting or making an appearance from the bench.
Currently on loan from Napoli until next summer, the 30-year-old is hoping for even more time on the pitch, and, if possible, a return to the Colombia national team.
The player gave an interview to Fox Sports, relayed by El Espectador, where he explained his ambitions.
He said: “I want to keep totting up the minutes to get back to the Camilo everyone knows. For now, the most important is that Colombia are playing well, and continue in the qualifiers because they’re doing the right things.
“I want to keep playing to become a regular at Watford, and if the national team end up calling, they will be very welcome.”
Enjoying life at Watford where he ‘found a good group, good teammates and a team with hunger and ambition’, 62 time capped Colombian international is certainly enjoying life in the Premier League.
Whether he manages to achieve his ambitions is a different matter altogether, but he’s currently on the right track.
