Watford are making moves in January, and they want a left-winger, with France Football claiming on Tuesday the Hornets were ready to pounce on François Kamano.
An offer of €15m that could reach €17m with bonuses was being talked about, and now they’ve apparently made the bid official.
According to the same outlet, Watford are ‘currently in talks’ with Bordeaux about a €16m transfer for the Guinea international, whose preference would be to join Monaco.
The principality side have, for now, only bid €13m, and are ‘hesitating’ about increasing their offer.
This led to Watford ‘speeding things up’, perhaps trying to use Monaco’s indecision to their advantage, although this could drag on a while longer.
Bordeaux are said to still want €20m for their star forward, and seem prepared to wait a little to see if their Ligue 1 counterparts put more money on the table.
Watford appear to be in the lead for now, but they still need to convince Kamano that moving to the Premier League would be in his best interests.
A few extra thousand pounds a week might go a long way. We’ll see.
