According to a claim in the Turkish media, Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on Rennes defender Christopher Wooh.
The 23-year-old has been linked with the Premier League club in recent weeks, along with Trabzonspor. We covered reports last month which stated Wolves were in transfer talks with the Cameroon international and were ready to make a €5m offer.
It now seems Wooh will be heading to England this summer, if he gets his own way, after Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Doğan revealed, as covered by Kuzey Ekspres, the youngster wants to play in the Premier League.
The Trabzonspor chief also said they’d reached an agreement with Rennes to sign Wooh, but he’s now in transfer talks with another club.
“We’d reached an agreement with Rennes for Wooh. We signed a preliminary protocol. However, the player wants to go to the Premier League. He’s negotiating with another team. We are trying to overcome this problem,” said Doğan.
The Turkish media outlet claim Wolves are now preparing an offer for Wooh and that Trabzonspor’s chances of signing him are now looking slim, even though they haven’t yet given up hope.
Wooh made 21 appearances in all competitions last season for Rennes, scoring one goal. He’s contracted to the Ligue 1 side until June 2026.
