Trabzonspor are yet to complete a deal for Southampton forward Mislav Oršić and have put any deal ‘on hold’ while waiting for the Saints.
That’s according to Gunebakis, who say ‘the wait continues’ for the transfer to happen despite weeks of suggestions it was basically a done deal.
They explain that the club do not want to ‘compromise’ themselves to sign Oršić, who is keen to leave Southampton after a miserable few months at the club following a move in the January transfer window.
Trabzonspor have been working on a deal for him but, after submitting a bid to Southampton, have made it clear they do not plan to increase that.
“We will not compromise on financial discipline. Our offers for two players are on the table. If the offers are accepted, the transfers will take place. Otherwise, we will close the book,” they are quoted as stating.
Gunebakis explain that Trabzonspor remain keen on signing Oršić from Southampton and the ‘biggest advantage’ they have is that they have technical director Nenad Bjelica at the club.
He wants to see him in Turkey and is pushing to make it happen but so far Southampton have not accepted the offers presented.
That will not be improved upon by Trabzonspor so it is now down the Saints to work something out, particularly as Oršić has already agreed a deal with the Super Lig side.
