Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães have announced today the signing of Marcus Edwards from Tottenham Hotspur.
In their official website, the club said they’ve come to an agreement with Spurs, allowing him to sign a four-year deal with them.
It’s also stated that Vitória will only have 50% of a future transfer, probably leaving the rest for the London side, and the player will be protected by a release clause of €15m.
The Portuguese media is normally on the money, but they’re a little bit lost in this situation. Some outlets say the player has rescinded his contract with Spurs and then signed for Vitória, while others claim they don’t know how much the Guimarães side paid for the transfer.
Marcus Edwards has been at Tottenham’s academy since he was a teenager. He’s had loan spells at Norwich City and Excelsior, and leaves Spurs with only one appearance in the first team.
