Leeds United striker Rodrigo is ‘very close’ to joining Sevilla as Victor Orta makes his first moves as director of football at the Spanish club.
That’s according to El Partidazo de COPE, who say Orta’s move to Sevilla has worked as a ‘guarantee’ for Rodrigo to make the move.
Orta was confirmed as Sevilla’s new director of football today, replacing Monchi, who has left the club to join Aston Villa.
The belief is that he will look to Elland Road and several of his former Leeds players as he works on signings for his new club this summer and it appears Rodrigo is set to become the first he targets.
According to El Partidazo, Rodrigo is ‘very close’ to signing for Sevilla and will arrive on a free transfer from Leeds after they were relegated to the Championship.
They say that the only thing left to do is ‘finalise his €3.5m tab’, which we’ll assume is the wage packet that he is set to earn at the Sanchez Pizjuan given the previous mention of a free transfer.
Either way the striker is set to return to Spain and reunite with Orta, who has wasted no time in raiding Leeds for his former signings.
