Victor Orta is now fully immersed in the drama of Sevilla, which since his move to the Spanish club may have been even more like a soap opera than his time at Leeds United.

There’s been multiple serious disagreements behind the scenes, public sniping, and that’s only between the family who have controlled Sevilla for years.

On the pitch, Orta signings have arrived and largely been dismissed by previous manager Quique Sanchez Flores, leading to suggestions of strife with the football director.

New manager Garcia Pimienta will be expected to work with whoever Orta brings in for him, and the director seems confident this summer. As part of a chat about transfer business, he said it’s much easier to bring players to Sevilla than it was to Leeds United.

Diario de Sevilla quote him speaking at the presentation of Saul Niguez, who has arrived from Atletico Madrid. Orta took a little swipe at those suggesting some players don’t want to work with him, and then said: “The south also helps. At Leeds United I had more problems convincing the players.”

The weather in Seville is expected to hit 40 degrees this week, Leeds is much more palatable at 26.

Orta was also asked whether he feels the Saul signing will improve his image with fans, and said: “I only think about Sevilla, my image has a minuscule importance, what is interesting is the badge. I worry very little about myself and a lot about Sevilla.”
