Victor Orta’s spell at Leeds United came to an end on Tuesday after the Whites confirmed their sporting director has left the club by “mutual consent”.
The 43-year-old spent seven years at Sevilla before he moved to Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2013.
Having parted ways with Leeds, he could be set for a return to the La Liga side. That’s at least what Onda Cero’s Edu García told their Radioestadio.
Monchi is currently the sporting director of the Spanish club, who have endured a difficult campaign in the league. They have picked up nine points in the last five games, which has helped them climb to 12th spot.
García explains the former Whites chief is ‘in the orbit’ of the Andalusian club to become Monchi’s successor. The deal is ‘not closed’ yet but a return to Sevilla is the ‘most viable option’ for Orta after his exit from Leeds.

Orta’s potential arrival at Sevilla would indicate that Monchi’s time at the club could come to an end.
It’ll be interesting to see if this claim will be backed up by others in Spain.
