Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid for Manchester United amounts to €4bn or €4.5bn as he competes with offers from Qatar for the club.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who put a figure on his bid today after reports of his interest in a deal from England.
Ratcliffe is believed to be one of the parties interested in buying Manchester United from the Glazer family in the coming months, after United’s current owners made it clear they would welcome a sale or investment into the club.
A bid was made by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday, with potential buyers having been asked to submit their offers and proof of funds by a deadline.
That was quickly followed by claims Ratcliffe, who has openly admitted his interest in a purchase in the past, had also submitted his own bid for the club.
FM confirm that is the case, stating that Ratcliffe has ‘made an offer’ to the Glazers and that the proposal ‘amounts to €4 billion or €4.5 billion.’
That is similar to what has reportedly been offered by the bid from Qatar but also seemingly falls short of the Glazers’ valuation, with some reports putting that as high as €7 billion.
It remains to be seen how either is received by Manchester United’s current owners, then, but Ratcliffe is in the mix nonetheless.
