Neven Subotic is back in team training. Hurrah!

Germany’s Kicker reports Subotic returned to Borussia Dortmund team training on Wednesday, a quiet way to ease back in when many of the club’s players are on international duty.

Kicker explain that Subotic’s future is unclear, and they of course go over the defender’s failed transfer to Middlesbrough. Aitor Karanka and co had identified the player, and Middlesbrough agreed a fee with Dortmund of €8m, but it all collapsed when it was decided Subotic needed an operation.

It may not be dead, because Kicker say it’s ‘unclear’ whether Subotic’s transfer to Middlesbrough was cancelled, or just postponed until the player was fit again.

At the end of September, Germany’s SportBild reported that Dortmund were still set on selling Subotic, with the January window earmarked for a move.

If Middlesbrough still want to do the deal, then they should be able to. Maybe they could even get themselves a discount.
