Ibrahima Konaté to Liverpool rumours have gone relatively quiet, after reports at the end of March stated the Merseyside club were close to agreeing a deal for the RB Leipzig player’s transfer.
On April 30th, Bild journalist Christian Falk reported the defender’s agent is ‘working hard’ to take his client to Anfield.
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has a long report focusing on Marcel Sabitzer’s situation at the German club.
At the end of the report, they provide a short update on the centre-back, who has been repeatedly linked to the Reds. It’s claimed the ‘highly talented central defender could move to Liverpool very soon’.
Konaté was left on the bench as Leipzig suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final on Thursday.
After the tie, Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff was quizzed about the rumours linking the 21-year-old to Jürgen Klopp’s side.
“We’ll see what happens. I spoke to him this week. No decision has been made yet. There is an exit clause. That’s why we don’t sit in the driver’s seat. He is a player we want to keep,” he told Sky Germany, as reported by Berger.
