On July 27th, Mundo Deportivo reported ‘there is an offer’ from Everton for Barcelona defender Lucas Digne. Later that day, RMC Sport in France claimed the Merseyside club are ready to pay somewhere in between €18-€22m for the left-back.

Today’s edition of the Catalan newspaper claims the 25-year-old could be an Everton player by Monday or ‘no later than Tuesday’, and that the transfer is ‘imminent’.

After many days of negotiations for the player, the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement. Ernesto Valverde’s side will earn more than €16.5m from the France international’s sale this summer.

Barcelona will face Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season friendly this weekend and Digne will not feature against the north London club. It is thought certain that the full-back will not complete the preseason tour with his current employer.

Another Catalan newspaper Sport claims Barcelona would have accepted a €20m plus €2m in bonuses that is offered by the Toffees for Digne.

He was hoping for a more ambitious sporting project, but he is aware that Everton will not ‘wait forever’.

Marco Silva’s side have already started talking to the ex-Roma defender’s agent and Sport claims the deal could be concluded at the start of the next week, something which even Mundo is also claiming in their report.
