Mauricio Pochettino will succeed at Chelsea in the near future, he just needs more time to implement his ideas at the cub.
That’s according to Enzo Fernandez, who has backed the Argentine manager to get Chelsea back on track eventually.
Pochettino arrived as Chelsea manager in the summer, tasked with trimming down the squad, establishing a style of play and getting the club on track after a disastrous first year and chaos of Graham Potter and then Frank Lampard.
He’s so far had something of an indifferent start to life in charge at Stamford Bridge, with a record of 14 wins, four draws and nine losses in 27 games in all competitions to date.
He currently has Chelsea 9th in the table and nine points outside of the top four at present, a disappointing scenario given the money that has been spent under Todd Boehly and co.
There has been pressure growing on Pochettino as a result, although a good run over form over the Christmas period has eased that somewhat.
And Fernandez doesn’t believe there should be a change, backing Pochettino to get Chelsea where they want to be in future.
“The relationship with Pochettino is very good,” he said.
“He is about getting closer to us, he talks to us a lot in a human way, and that is very important for the player. He gives you a lot of confidence with the group, he gives you facilities and tools when it comes to playing.
“His idea lacks time because it is a process, there are many new players, the group was formed this year, and it is not easy to quickly find the way it works. It will take a while, but we are trying to do our best so that we can find it.”
