Stefan Ortega’s potential move from Manchester City to Bayern Munich is ‘close to being off now’ as Pep Guardiola is refusing to let the goalkeeper depart.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says that the Manchester City coach has turned down alternate options presented to him to replace Ortega.

Ortega had emerged as a potential option for Bayern over the last week, with the German giants desperately scrambling around for a temporary number one after selling Yann Sommer.

His departure, coupled with Manuel Neuer still recovering from injury, has left them short in the area and they’re trying to find a short-term option.

Ortega had emerged as an option and Bayern were pushing to sign him on loan from Manchester City, but it seems that deal won’t be happening.

Plettenberg explains that while the deal was approved by Thomas Tuchel and a first concrete offer was made to the player, who was considering the move, it is Guardiola who is blocking the matter.

Both he and Manchester City are still not willing to let him go, despite several potential replacements having been offered to them.

As a result, the deal is ‘close to being off’ after further discussions last night and this morning, with Bayern bosses informing the player’s representatives that they won’t wait much longer and will instead look elsewhere.
