Leicester City are one of several clubs to be linked with Florian Thauvin in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old has a contract with Marseille which expires at the end of June and is subsequently entitled to negotiate with other clubs. He would then arrive on a free transfer in the summer, and whilst he’s obviously going to be looking for good wages, it’s not going to be off-the-charts big.

Along with Leicester, Sevilla and AC Milan have also been linked, making a nice trio of clubs for the potential summer move. Then, out of nowhere, Real Madrid were pulled into the drama, which caught the attention of Thauvin himself.

Seeing the rumour on Twitter, the Frenchman responded by laughing it all off, clearly not thinking there’s one bit of truth in the claim.

Leicester are mentioned again by La Razon, and it’s an interesting possibility to keep an eye on. So far this season Thauvin has made 23 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring seven goals and adding the same number of assists.

Considering Marseille have only scored 29 league goals in total, that’s an impressive return.

Should Brendan Rodgers decide against keeping Cengiz Under on a longer term basis, then Thauvin looks a valid option.
