Leandro Trossard has less than six months left on his contract and Brighton & Hove Albion have an option to extend it until 2024.
The Premier League side have offered ‘several’ long-term deals to the 28-year-old in recent weeks, but he has ignored them.
That’s according to Het Belang van Limburg, who add Brighton have exercised the option to extend the winger’s deal by a further year.
After spending over four seasons at The Amex, the Belgium international feels he is ‘ready for a step higher’. Therefore, the chance of him staying at the club beyond this season is ‘small’ and a ‘transfer beckons’ in the summer.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side extending the player’s contract until 2024 will allow them to earn a fee from his sale after this season. The question remains as to where he will move next. Chelsea, Newcastle United and Liverpool have been named as his suitors.
The Reds could be dismissed after they signed Cody Gakpo. A move to Chelsea will see Trossard reunite with Graham Potter. Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth had a spell at Brighton, and he signed Trossard during his time at The Amex.Potter and Ashworth may be leading the chase to sign Trossard for the Blues and the Tyneside club respectively.
HBVL explain no option is concrete for Trossard at the moment. It is likely the attacker will finish the season at Brighton and then decide where to move next later this year.
