On April 2nd, Calciomercato reported Napoli star Victor Osimhen’s agent has already secured a deal and the clues lead to Chelsea.
Three days ago, we relayed news from Italy that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are keen, and a summit was planned this week to discuss a €100m plus deal.
PSG seem to have overtaken Chelsea in the race for the striker if Il Mattino, relayed by Sport Mediaset, is to be believed.
It’s an open secret the 25-year-old will leave the Serie A side after this season and the report states he’s now ‘one step away’ from PSG. This would certainly put Chelsea on high alert.
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis and his PSG counterpart Nasser Al-Khelaïfi share a good relationship. It’s claimed Osimhen has a €120m clause and the French club won’t find it difficult to agree a deal with Napoli.
PSG will offer the Nigerian international a four-year deal worth €13m per season, and image rights will be taken care of by the player himself.
He recently made a trip to Paris and this is an indication that Osimhen prefers PSG, more than the Premier League, where Chelsea are keen.
De Laurentiis, for his part, will evaluate every proposal that’s close to €120m. This should give Chelsea hope, even though Il Mattino are claiming that PSG are a step away from sealing the deal.
The Blues now have time to offer better conditions, to get ahead of PSG and win the race to sign Osimhen. There’s the insinuation PSG could make part of that €120m up by including players, and that looks like an ideal scenario for Chelsea and their bulging squad.
On top of that, Osimhen is on record as saying he likes the Premier League, so the idea of him preferring PSG may not be quite correct.
