Chelsea registered their second Champions League victory of the season by defeating Malmö FF at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The Blues sealed a 4-0 win against the Swedish side, but that came at a heavy cost as both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner were forced off the pitch before half time.

Thomas Tuchel has admitted the duo could miss “some matches” for the west London club. The Belgium international suffered an ankle injury, following a tackle from Malmö’s Lasse Nielsen.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the striker underwent his first scan on Thursday and initial diagnosis suggest he will be out of action for two to three weeks.

This means it will be ‘touch and go’ if Lukaku can even be back for mid-November, to be part of the Belgium squad for the international break.

The former Everton man has ‘significant swelling on his foot’ and therefore, he will have to undergo more tests to have clarity on the extent of the damage.

Chelsea host Norwich City this weekend, and Thomas Tuchel will provide an update on Lukaku’s injury in his pre-match press conference later today.
