Allegedly close to a move to Turkey after it was made clear that his future was far away from Tottenham and Wembley, it seems Moussa Sissoko won’t be heading to the Süper Lig just yet.
According to France Football, despite the midfielder being keen, the move potentially taking the France international to Trabzonspor has now collapsed after Spurs made it clear they were not interested in a loan.
The Turkish side, who are unlikely to want to gamble a lot of money on a player who underperformed quite drastically last season, don’t appear keen on a permanent transfer, which is what Daniel Levy and co. are favouring at the moment.
Unfortunately for Tottenham, it seems few clubs are prepared to invest in the 28-year-old at the moment, hardly helped by the amount the London club paid for him in the first place last summer.
Arriving from Newcastle for a club record fee of £30m+, Sissoko made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, 12 of which were starts, picking up four assists along the way.
With only two weeks left in the transfer window, and their stance quite clear, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens.
Will Pochettino, who started Sissoko against his former side at the weekend, try and accommodate his club’s record signing for another season, or will Tottenham eventually capitulate and let him leave on a loan somewhere on transfer deadline day?
